Time as a visual idea
A product introduction gains context when its stage concept connects with the story behind it. In this case, a passage through time supplied that visual idea. The concept shaped the stage presentation. With the C8 concrete pump truck at the centre of the occasion, the design offers a way to consider product development through a sense of progression.
A Beijing occasion within a wider tour
On 31 August 2012, SANY brought this presentation to Beijing's Bird's Nest. Five hundred people attended. The occasion was part of the company's worldwide roadshow for that year, carrying a theme that paired the dragon with the elephant. Product, place and theme therefore provide three specific reference points for reading the event, beyond the stage's abstract treatment of time.
Connecting the theme with the corporate background
The C8 story followed SANY's acquisition of the German company Putzmeister, also known by the nickname Elephant. Chinese and German technology came together in the product's background. The paired animal imagery relates to that corporate context; the temporal stage idea adds a separate visual perspective. Read together, these elements connect a new machine with a wider account of company development, through the theme and visual treatment chosen for this occasion.
The photographic record
The original event images appear below. They sit alongside the product and acquisition context to document this particular occasion. The case is distinctive for the relationship between its theme, technological background and stage concept: a specific machine introduction expressed through a broader visual story.
